SESAME SEED

Sesame seed (Sesamum Indicum) contains 50-55 percent oil and 25 percent protein. The oil contains approximately 47 percent oleic acid and 39 percent linoleic acids.

Due to Uganda’s unique climate, there are two planting seasons per year: the first runs between March and April and the second season between August and September. Harvesting sesame for the first season takes place between June and July, while the second season takes place in November and December.

From our registered certified organic farmers (over 900) in the June – July season we always expect about 700 metric tons. And in the November – December season the range is between 1500-3000 metric tons.
