Our Story
OutSpan is a privately owned company incorporated under the Companies Act of the laws of Uganda in 1977 by senior directors who had worked in different organizations. In 1999, Outspan Enterprises Limited, ventured into the production and export of Organic Agricultural Products and to date operates this business under Outspan Agric Exports Ltd which works with over 900 small holder farmers for the past 30 years.
Initially, the project started with the export of Organic Cotton and later expanded to include Sesame seed, Cocoa, Soya beans, Shea nuts, Chiaseeds and Birds eye chilies. The project is located in the Northern districts of Dokolo, Kaberamaido and Amolatar. Outspan was instrumental in the introduction and promotion of a new variety “Sesame II” which gave better yields and has a higher oil content. It has been a big success for all participating farmers and has seen continued improvement.

Under the mission we aim to improve food safety and quality of locally produced and increase productivity and competitiveness of the smallholder farmers’ agricultural products through improving the value chains and increasing the value-added products.

Our Suppliers
Outspan Agric Exports currently procures most of its Agricultural certified produce from the Northern areas of Uganda. Organic produce that is sesame is procured from our well organized and registered farmers from the districts of Kaberamaido, Amolator and Dokolo. All our organic farmers are certified by ECOCERT a French registered company for supply of EU, NOP and Fair Trade certified Sesame seed. The conventional products like sesame, red birds eye chillies, cocoa, sheanut, sunflower, maize and beans are procured from all over Uganda i.e. Kasese, Bundibugyo etc. The company operates an organized network of suppliers within the various regions of operation and also offers extension services as well as improved seed for cultivation where allowed. We therefore keep a good working relationship with all the different communities.
